Championing the empowerment, care, and protection of every child.
Chimana Child Protection Organisation is dedicated to supporting orphans and vulnerable children in and around Chipinge. At the heart of our work is a firm belief that a loving family environment offers a child the very best foundation for healthy development. We are committed to ensuring children can grow up within their own communities, where they can learn their cultural heritage first-hand and develop a strong sense of identity.
We respond to the urgent and long-term needs of vulnerable children in Chipinge and beyond. Our work goes beyond simply providing for immediate needs; we have developed a comprehensive, holistic approach to safeguarding children's rights. This means we carefully assess and address the full range of needs for both the child and their caregivers, ensuring that families have the support they need to stay together and thrive.
Our story began in 1992, driven by the compassion of Mrs Elizabeth Mahiyana. While serving as the Head Teacher at Chimana Primary School, she witnessed the vulnerability of some of her pupils and began providing them with care. Her unwavering dedication to their wellbeing quickly grew, and what started as one woman's mission became the foundation for what is now the Chimana Child Protection programme.
Our mission is to champion the empowerment, care, safety, and protection of every child, always with the child’s best interests and their fundamental rights at the centre of all we do.
